Adding some texture to the table…

Adding some texture to the table…

While I was doing a little organizing, I came across some HSTs (half-square triangles) that were randomly hanging out in my WIP pile and thought these would make a really quick table runner. Once I stitched up a couple more HST’s in a few more coordinating prints.
After laying out my HST into a pattern that seemed to really highlight the low and high contrast values of the colors and prints of the fabrics (the fabric is an Amanda Murphy Collection). I stitched them all together and got too work basting the quilt top, batting (Battilizer from HoopSisters) and backing.
For the quilting, I decided that adding more texture and basically going with the more is more in the best way vibe, I turned to my serger/coverstitch machine. That’s right my favorite machine of all time, the Bernina L890. I used various weights of thread along with solids and metallics. Using the chain stitch and cover stitches, I stitched a variety of slightly curved lines to create the texture and depth with the quilting.
Using a variety of red fabrics, I created the scrappy binding and added a Kylie and the Machine “Imperfect” label in to the back of the binding. I love how this turned out and I can’t wait develop a table scape with this runner.
